Help me some more.

Okay, I'm tired of fucking around with my car...

As most of you may remember, about 3 months ago, I fried my ignition switch, and the car wouldn't start anymore. I replaced the ignition switch and wiring harness which didn't work. I also replaced my coil and my igniter unit inside my distributor. I used a timing light and found that I have spark on all 4 cylinders, so all I can think of now is that somehow, I'm not getting fuel... I think I smell unburnt gas, but I'm not sure... Does anyone know how to check to see if I'm getting fuel and wether I'm getting enough fuel?

I plan on disconnecting my alarm system from the car completely incase I fried it, and it's fuel cut-off is messed up, but I really don't think that's the problem.

I checked my main-relay, and didn't find any problems with it, haven't yet checked the voltages on the wires, but the relay itself looks perfectly fine.

The only other thing I can think is that maybe I fried my ECU or something? What ECU would I need to replace mine? It's for a D16A6 engine with 5spd. manual tranny.

anyways, please tell me how to check my fuel...

damn man, still nothing huh, guess you are saving a lot of money not driving it around though, I think I remember you saying you got the cherokee running but I dont remember.

Dont really have any knowledge to help you out, but I say replacing your ECU is probably a step in the right direction.

Yeah, I got the damn jeep running, turned out that I broke the ceramic on one of the spark-plugs when I installed it...

Anyways, yeah, haven't had the car running since early october, and I just want to drive it one more time before we get some serious snow... also, it's parked in front of my house getting rained on, and I need to get it into storage before we really get his with snow. At the same time though, I'm trying not to spend too much money on getting it running, when I'm just going to turn around and drop the Y8 into it in a few months.

so what exaclty is going on with it? i take it its turning over but not starting? is it in time? double check that, i take it you have access to a timing light by your post... and for the fuel... track it down... one way to see if you're getting fuel for sure is right before the TB, pull the fuel line off, put it in a jar or cup (not styrofoam) and turn the car to on and try to crank it briefly... if you get fuel to there then it could be a clog some where later in the process... the injectors could be fouled or the ecu could be fugged but def check the timing first

Well, I'm going to try checking for the gas at the TB. But don't I have to have the engine actually running in order to check the timing? Or can I do that while it's being cranked by the starter? I really don't think timing is the problem though, I didn't do anything to mess with the timing at all... All I did was fry my ignition switch.

Anyways, thanks, I'll let you know if I find anything.

And if anyone else has more ideas, please let me know!

yup you can... have someone crank it and you check to see when its hitting... same as if it were running...

and all i can say is some wierd shit happens at times... the T-belt could have jumped for god only knows why...

heh one time i was working on a friends car... i checked compression the number 2 cylinder had like 60 psi... well i pull the head off and heh there is a huge chunk missing out of the intake valve... i'm like yeah this will be easy... i swap it out and put it all together (the car ran right before i tore it apart, but really badly) well i fire it up.. wait no... i tried to fire it up.. cept there was no fire... i spend several days looking for a frigging loose wire, nothin, i did a good job putting it together... so i'm like screw it... i think your ignitor is shot... i replace that... nothin, now i'm getting really pissed and i say aight get me a whole new dist(every thing appeared to be fine in the old one) he gets on and ten min after he brings it over i hop in and turn it over.. the damned thing ran purred heh it ran smoother than my car did at the time... couple months later something else went though ( me thinks he got a lemon) but the point is just b/c you may think i did nothing with it, well that doesn't mean jack.. all i did was unplug the dist. set it to the side and then reinstall it... and timing is free to check...

aight i think i'm done now... just thought i'd share...
