I'll go first:

The VQ Engine baby, all that Torque in a family car.

Also the way people who know of the Max's capability stare to see if you are going to take off like a bat out of hell at the stoplights.

How about:
The ergonomics. All controls and cubbies are easy to operate and located exactly where they should be. The seats are firm and supportive. The visibility is excellent. On the 97-99 models safety is also good.

I myself own an SE, and have been taking it apart over the past couple of months. Interesting engineering. When I first got the car I have to say stock exceleration was impressive.
