98 civic and tires for my 17's

Last summer i purchased some 17's for my 98 honda civic ex. i wasn't paying attention to it and i bought H rated tires instead of Z. i have experienced some small rim bending and i'm wondering if a Z rated tire of the same size would have a stiffer sidewall and help prevent this.

the tires i have now are 205/40 h17. also, would going up to a 205/45 Z17 help? would the 45 tire cause negative camber with the rear wheels? any help would be great. thanks.

I don't think you would be anymore protected with a z rated tire. You have to realize you get what you pay for. You want more looks you gotta pay the price of potholes or be more of a defensive driver. I also pump up my tire pressures about 5psi over stock.

yeah, driving defensively is key.....especially in new england. also, would a 45 ratio tire help at all rather than the 40?
