Loud Exhaust and Nosy Neighbor
Got a large, 4" exhaust at the tip. Real loud. Neighbor comes around and complains about it (he complains about jsut about everyone), and said he might take it up on a village association meeting. Told him it's his right. Anyway, anyone know of any silencer that can get the noise level to near stock level without hurting performance? Am not about to take my exhaust off because of him.

wid a 4" exaust on a n\a car u might loss hp because it is free flowing and a n\a car needs to maintain compression 2 make hp so with a 4' exaust less compression u r making so u might actually be loosin hp!
i would of only went wid a 2.5" at the most anything ova dat is over kill 4 a n\a car!!!! 1

should have got a 5zigen fireball. they are really low and bassy, like a subwoofer compared to midrange speakers.

Heh, I live in Asia, not in North America. But it might lose hp? Hhmm...actually the sound is more or less like the Fireball, really not noisy at idle. It's only when you rev that it gets that way.

sr20det2nr - i think he is referring to the tip diameter, not the piping diameter, at least i hope so.
most mufflers that have a silencer come with one from the manufacturer for free, or a little extra money. i dont know of any company that makes silencers for other mufflers, since the muffler has to be designed to have the silencer be a part of it. as far as i know, you are shit out of luck on this one until you either buy a new muffler, or hit your neighbor in the eye so he shuts up. you could always drive slower around home, but wheres the fun in that...
