Im gettin a kit?

Allright i called up a place today......and they say that they sell models from $16-$40..............this is gonna be my first model ever so i was jsut wonderin how much should i spend.........and also could you tell me wat to expect from it.............i saw Pman's thread and that has given me some insight..........but if you have any pictures of the instruction book or the parts as soon as they come out of the set than i would be really gratefull................

My first car was a Fujimi Civic SiR II. It was cool, but I f'ed it up. It remains to be the only model I have worked on. I think im going to give it another shot in a week or two.

It really helps to know what kinda of cars do you like (specific model, type or maker) before buying model cars.

Believe me, if you like the car in real life, building the model will be more enjoyable.

Like me, I absolutely worship the FD3S RX7 and thus I have 8 models with different configurations, colors and such. And I'm still looking to buy more.

Just stay away from any models with lots of decals (like Tamiya race cars) for your first few models.

im into like Ford Mustangs....Viper's.........Civic's............... .and the usual cars that people drive

The Mustang and Viper would be 1/25 scale from Revell. Typically ~ $13 - 15 US (or even cheaper). Anything more is a rip-off.

Civic, well there're bunch of 1/24 hatchbacks (no coupe / sedan yet) by Fujimi out there. Just make your pick.

The Tamiya Subaru WRX Sti street car (~25?) would be a good choice. I heard it's simple, easy to build and it's a regular street car that you'd see everyday.

For reference, on avg a Tamiya street car model is from ~$20 to ~30 US. Some smaller models are less than $20 while some of the newer one like Ferarri 360 and Enzo are > 40 due to the details.

Fujimi in my area (Northern California where import models are plentiful) typically between 20 and 30 with some in the higher 30s. Expect higher range in "import-remote" areas.

stay away from RX-7 and the Enterprise Elite Altezza, i've had my share of "fun" with those models, and lemme tell u its not a good model to start on, for me, the easiest i've built is the R32, simple, no need to worry about any parts fitting, and it definetly looks cool :sun:

IMO if you are just starting off you need to keep away from most Revell kits.
Start off with something like the Tamiya WRX STi or any of the Tamiya Skylines...they are easy to build and give you a good background to the basics

How about those cheap snappers? They can be a great test sample for a complete and step by step paint work, and even if you screw up, it won't hurt so much financially.
