Cold air intake installation problems, help!

Ok, so i'm about to install a Cold air intake on my 94 ex. I was gonna have the auto shop do it because i hadnt seen it done yet, and it looked easier said than done when i went under the hood. The stock intake pipe runs to the manifold, but before it reaches the manifold, there is another plastic pipe that connects to it from below. WHAT IS THIS PIPE? IS THE COLD AIR INTAKE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A HOLE TO ACCEPT THIS PIPE, AND I dont mean the two small pressure sensor tubes. The shop said that they couldnt do it, and that they had never seen something like that on other accords (non vtec).
Basically, here's my problem. There seems to be 2 pipes that lead to the manifold, and the one on the top, one on the bottom, the one on the bottom attatches to the one on the top just before it reaches the manifold. Can i just detatch it without worrying about anything going wrong, or do i get a new intake?(my intake only has 4 openings, one for filter, one for manifold, two for the sensors, none for the one coming from the bottom.Help)

Re: Cold air intake installation problems, help!

silly man. look at it again. i don't know about your 94 engine, but my 97 engine has two tubes sticking from the bottom of the pipe also. but it's not attached to anything. i guess the egineers were bored and designed it to fool shadetree mechanics such as yourself. after you take the stock pipe off, all you have left connected to the engine is the tube.
