Your altenator is crapping out on you. Get a new one, upgraded one even. A lot of people get a capaciter (cap) instead which usually helps out too.

ALL the power in the car's electrical system comes from the alternator, once the car is turned on. That second battery is just an extra load on the poor alternator.

get a stronger alternator (or rewind), with some 3 main wire upgrade. after all that has been done and you still get the problem, a cap should be considered (with very LOW ESR).

You might want to upgrade your ground wires throughout your car, or at least the main ones on the car and the ones that deal with your sound system.

Wow, slow down one min. How much wattage are you follwoing through your car. Beat mine and get an upgraded alt. I run stock alt, small ass honda bat. a one farad cap. Plus a viper d2500.1 which runs at about 2000 watts and a kenwood four channel amp that runs at 400 watts. The only time my headlight s dim is when i have been bumping a long time. You said you have have two bat. How are they wired? Do you have an isolator. Try a 1 or 2 farad cap to end the problem before spending major money to fix a small problem

a cap is useless unless you have with SUPER low ESR. if he's going to get that kind of cap, its going to cost him lots of $$$. the good ones are the ones made from brax/helix, and i forgot the other name.

Right, that is why my cap stopped my dimming problem and it has a slightly higher ESR then the good ones. Lighnting cap with digtal voltmeter for $110.

I have seen systems that had a hydraulic driven spline that was spinning as many as 10 alternators.
