Keyless Remote on a 97 blazer????

I recently rebuilt a 1997 4 door 4wd blazer. The keyless door entry does not work. I put a fresh battery in it to no avail. I hold all the buttons down at once and I get a reaction from the locks but it does nothing to "reset" the system. Does anyone know how to totally reprogram the system. The ON OFF ON OFF while holding the unlock button on the door does not work on my 1997.

That is the right programming sequence, so you probably need a new remote.

I used my wifes remote from her 1999 GMC Safari. It has the same style remote with the same FCC code. This program sequence......

Hold Unlock botton
Turn ingintion ON, OFF, ON, OFF
release Unlock button
The locks should then actuate to tell you it is in program mode...

THIS DOES NOT WORK FOR MY 97 blazer or my wifes 99 Safari. How do I pogram this thing!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!.

IF AT ANY TIME YOU MAKE A MISTAKE PLEASE START AND STOP YOUR CAR, EXIT THE VEHICLE AND START OVER.
95-99 VEHICLES REQUIRE A TEST LIGHT OR WIRE FOR PROGRAMMING.FOR BEST RESULTS BUY AN INEXPENSIVE TEST LIGHT.

95-99 MODELS some 97 and newer blazer/jimmy/fwd vans may use the other set of instrcutions, please see 2nd set below

SET 1
1 LOCATE THE DIAGNOSTIC PLUG LOCATED UNDER DRIVERS DASH, A USUALLY BLACK FEMALE END PLUG, APPROX. A 12 PIN CONNECTOR.

2 FIND A GOOD GROUND AND TOUCH TEST LIGHT TO THE TOP PIN ON FAR RIGHT OF DIAGNOSTIC PLUG,POWER DOOR LOCKS SHOULD CYCLE.(JUMP UP AND DOWN)
IF LOCKS FAIL TO CYCLE TOUCH BOTTOM RIGHT PIN. 2a - some older models ,early 96 on back you may have to touch top or bottom far left pin.( IF YOU HAVE A GOOD GROUND, YOUR TEST LIGHT WILL COME ON AND DOOR LOCKS WILL CYCLE FORM ONE OF THESE PINS! IF LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON YOU HAVE A BAD GROND!)

3 AS SOON AS LOCKS CYCLE, KEEP THE GROUND AND PIN CONNECTED , HOLD DOWN BOTH THE UNLOCK BUTTON AND LOCK BUTTON ON THE NEW KEYLESS REMOTE AT THE SAME TIME UNTILL DOOR LOCKS CYCLE.(THIS MAY TAKE 5-20 SECONDS)

4 MAINTAIN CONNECTION WITH TEST LIGHT , TAKE 2ND NEW OR OLD REMOTE AND PRESS AND HOLD DOWN LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTONS ON REMOTE UNTILL LOCKS CYCLE.

MOST 97 AND NEWER BLAZER

1 SIT IN VEHICLE AND CLOSE DOOR

2 HOLD FINGER DOWN ON UNLOCK POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH ON DRIVERS DOOR.

3 TURN IGNITION ON / OFF , ON / OFF.LEAVE KEY IN IGNITION.(DO NOT START VEHICLE, ON POSITION IS THE POSITION BEFORE START)

4 RELEASE FINGER FROM POWER DOOR LOCK.POWER DOOR LOCKS WILL CYCLE.(JUMP UP AND DOWN)

5 PRESS AND HOLD BOTH THE LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTONS ON NEW REMOTE UNTILL YOU HEAR POWER DOOR LOCKS CYCLE.(JUMP UP AND DOWN) YOU MAY HAVE TO HOLD BOTH BUTTONS DOWN FOR 5- 20 SECONDS.

6 TAKE 2ND NEW , OR OLD REMOTE AND HOLD BOTH UNLOCK AND LOCK BUTTONS DOWN UNTILL LOCKS CYCLE.(MAY TAKE 5- 20 SECONDS)


7 TURN KEY ON, THEN OFF.
YOU ARE DONE, EXIT VEHICLE AND TRY YOUR REMOTE.
