Yes, also known as the Holden Monaro in the land of the rising Kangaroo. Come on, it's not like GM was gonna kill the F-body and leave the whole muscle game to Ford... :hehehe:

All that is left is for Chrysler to follow suite, and with that new Hemi, they damn well better. I like the looks, but you think they would have designed a car from the ground up rather than using an existing platform.

CAMLESS TIMING OOooOooOooooooOoo factor 12!

GM should debute it in the C6 Corvette. The Corvette is the test bed for any new type of motor or type in tuning. (I.e. Crossfire Injection, TPI, LS1s). I hope they do... it'll Kick Vanos upside the ear lobe cause it has unlimited timing applications. Want to put around? Car adjusts to what would seem a very lazy cam design, want to race? Car adjusts to what would be a very rev happy cam... Dont forget it would most likely be put into a DOHC configuration.*

Eventually the motors would be trickled down to the rest of the GM line up. Just like the Camaro/Firebirds always ended up being a step behind the Corvette in technology/power.

Fun Fun Fun should be coming our way in the next few years... This should renew my faith in GM...

Just too bad GM seems to think I wanna go race around in a car that looks like a bar of Irish Spring.

*Camless timing is just a rumor though, I havent read or heard anything recently that contributes to my belief that we should see the system in the C6. Only time shall tell.

Just as I believed, the new GTO looks great. Bob Lutz, we thank you for excising the "my father was a cheese grater" styling motif that has plagued Pontiacs for the past decade. The new GTO looks like a nice evolution of the classic, as opposed to that butt-ugly concept they showed off in 1998-ish. I want mine in Marina Blue, please.

.

Needs ram air hood scoops though. The old GTO's had them, ram air or not. I'm sure that will eventually come.

Maybe even a Judge!! Go Judge!!!

i would expect them to make the GTO look more muscular since the classic GTO is a pretty diesel looking car. anyways thats not the true GTO. like what what Cbass said, its just a rebadge Holden. but Holdens are still nice cars. but they are making a real GTO. i've seen it on motortrend. the concept illustrations.

Ok my impresion was that even though the new GTO was based on the holden monaro it will be much upgraded in power and handling. I mean isn't the holden a V6?

BTW i hope this will give crysler a kick to bring back something too. A chalenger or a charger would be nice with the new hemi.

Nope, Neutrino you've got nothing to fear. This new Goat will have 300+ kicking ponies thanks to the LS1 V-8 and will route them through your choice of either a four-speed automatic or the Borg-Warner T-56 six-speed manual.

The new GTO is this car. And I, for one, am GLAD for it. Have you seen the concept drawings of the '04 Mustang? Pathetic! Retreading past glories is no way to make sales with anyone EXCEPT people old enough to recall said past glories. The new GTO, styling wise, is NEW for chrissakes. It isn't a stale cut-and-paste of the same tired out styling cliches that have kept Detroit in the doghouse since the start of the 90's. Instead, it's sleek, efficient, tidy, and pleasing. If anything, it can be traced back to the LAST pretty GM car to turn a wheel; the final generation of Riviera. I don't want to see this car get plastered in Orange paint, spoilers, and decals. I see it, rather, as a succesor to the understated Tri-Power Ponchos that ruled from 1961 (Super Duty Catalinas, not GTO's) to 1967. Those cars were beauties. This one is, too.

Yes, I want to see what Daimler-Chrysler does with its FR platform. Perhaps a new Challenger is in order? I'd like to see a new Super Bee, too. A Demon, though, that'd be wicked. Maybe just slightly above the Razor in the line-up.

yes that was my impresion too that they will upgrade the holden to the ls1 engine. I would like the ls6 but i guess that is too expensive.BTW i'll take the 6 speed thank you very much.

Question: Have any of you chevy guys heard of this new chevy V8 that is suposed to be the lenght of a 4cyl and the width of a 6 cyl basically a very small block V8 3.5 l i think. Also i understand that is suposed to be extremelly efficient and have great gas mileage.
