Cool First 2003 project

Here's my first 2003 project. Taking a basic Boxster, and giving it a bit of a factory tune-up. Rims are from a Modena, 'cause they're exactly the same size as the GT3 rims and use the same tires. And GT3 rims look pretty tasty on a Modena. I really like how the GT3 parts look on the Boxster.

Seats/steering wheel will also be from the GT3, and I'm using the dropped suspension from the GT3 as well.

Rear spoiler is modified down to a single-plane. Seems to look good w/a hardtop. Can't decide between Mica Red or Light Gunmetal, but I think L/G will be the final choice.

I got it at dealer's cost from a friend for about $18.00 (I missed a sale locally where they were $15/going out of business). They retail for $30, and are $16.66 at Hobbylink Japan before shipping. $45 is WAY too much, a complete rip-off!

Boy that's sweet! The GT3 parts really go well with it and gunmetal is a fine choice of colour.

Thanks...

After sleeping on it, I'll go with Light Gunmetal. Probably w/a black and dark red or blue interior. Has to be eye-catching, w/o being tacky.

Topless shots, requested by Veyron:

The Modena rims really look good on the Porsche.

I hope you didn't brake the beauty by sleeping on it...

Jokes aside, I'm looking forward to the progress!

Nice color choices!

My local hobby shop sells the GT3 for $30 USD and a 360 runs for $40-$45 USD! Thats just too expensive for me!

Thanks! I'm block sanding the primer and hope to have the first coats of light gunmetal on this evening.

Ouch on those prices! I've been lucky to find the Modena coupe for half price at Hobby Lobby (it was under $20), and the Spider at the store going OOB for about $20.47. Neither will be stock, so I had to use the rims somewhere!

Had I not gotten such good deals on the other kits, I would be "stuck" with a Boxster with only some custom rims which really isn't bad either. I can still do a relatively stock Carrera w/the leftovers of the GT3 and Boxster.

Smile Progress

It's now got a good coat of light gunmetal. Will let it sit in dehydrator overnight, polish it w/3600, and then do a light-recoat of light gunmetal then clear tomorrow. I think the color suits the car well. Interior colors will be similar to the blue on the Boxster in the background.
