Custom Tail lights question

So I hear all this stuff about custom lights, and thanks to Shepworldwide I've got this wicked link that shows you how:

http://www.torontocivics.com/articl...headlights.html
BUUUUUUUUUt... the directions on that site are for 6th gen headlamps. So mucho gracias (sp?) Shep for the link, but how do I clear out my rear lights (like my clear APC front corner lenses) and make all the funky crome pieces that dont reflect light the same color as my car?

Can that be done on a 5th gen? Has anyone done it? Tips? Warnings? Anything. know what I mean ya'll?

I'll see what I can do about pics to better illistrate what Im sayin'..the weather here combined with my laziness at the moment makes outside pictures difficult.

thanks again for any advice/help

Like this? You don't clear them yourself. You get new ones, as a unit and install them. I have found them at multiple places, starting with my local rice store (www.carmate.com.au). They look good on some Civics, though.

WORD. That's exactly what Im talking about...minus the whole badgirl sticker and all. So you can buy those eh? Why not clear them myself? It seems like a fairly simple process to open up the lenses and all, albeit gooey.

now, 2 other questions for you Oz:
1. Nice body kit, details?
2. Where did you find lights to use in those lights, or did they come with? If so, where did you find replacements? I looked through the whole APC catalogue no colored bulbs to fit, where'd you get em?

ok thanks

that hatch is pretty sweet, i never have liked clear tails though. i bought a set of tail light covers off ebay, fiberglass so i can paint them the same color as the car...should be pretty sweet...

NFI about the car - it's just a repost that I d/l. I would hazard a guess that it's a mongrel bodykit, but the best 5th gen bodykit I have ever seen is Erebuni (minus the wing). The bulbs - send a PM to a member named Tannee because he used to just buy regular bulbs and spray paint 'em in his garage (like $10 a bulb and $2 worth of paint). So it cost him fuck all, but they went after like 5000k.. So he had to do it again . you can get coloured inserts if your state regs require them, but coloured bulbs are the way to go. On the car I posted - I like the lights, height and colour, but hate the rims, not so much a fan of the stickers or kit. Oh, and watch out on coloured bulbs - after a while they look pink.

oookaaaaaaayyyy
me thinks I might not quite be awake yet, lil trouble following that thread. What about me clearing my own rear tails?
I've been told by other sources that to buy the regular bulbs and paint them with a bulb paint (that I guess one can get fairly easy and cheap) which is fine cause I'd only need red, they have amber ones for the signals.
BUT (oi Im gettin off track) I can then take apart my tail lenses and clear them out the same way one would take apart their head lamps on a 6th gen? yes? no? (circle one)

I guess Im just a bit nervous about tearin apart my taillamps and what some encouragement that it can be done.

thanks

I honestly don't know if it can be done or not. I don't know why you'd really want to try when you can buy the clusters and have your original ones as backups?? Unless you can find a reliable source of guidance as to how to do it, don't try it - you'll probably cause yourself more harm than help and end up scavenging around wreckers yards looking for replacements.

AAAHHH wrecker yards! genious! why didnt I think of that!? dumb wheel dumb!
I go to the wrecker yard near me - this one is all import (mostly honda) and no one goes there cause this is a GM town and a 5th gen HB is a rarity, buy a couple of rear tails there for cheap, and try it on those!

why oh why doesnt the most obvious and cheapest solution ever present itself initially!? oi
