Lightbulb Horsepower

Does anyone know how many horsepower the 1993 Civic ESi has? And how much is added when you put in 9.5mm spark cables, air filter and intake, take out the cat, and a large exhaust?

Do you live in a cave?

Not to be too rude or anything but first of all spark plug wires aern't giong to give you any hp just keep you engine sparking a tiny, tiny bit better at higher RPM's. Second I hope you don't have pipes any bigger than 2 1/4 becuase it'll only hurt you unless you've got a turbo. Third of all even if you get a top of the line intake and catback and take off the cat you aren't getting more than 15 hp and that's all high RPM hp. besides hp isn't important at all it just who's the fastest when you pull up to the light and It doesn't seem it'll be you.

Not to be rude either, but I hope I don't run into you. Erhm, hp isn't important? Eh...anyway, let's see how much hp I have added when I put my set-up. My friend's estimate is around 10. Not too much, but then again it made a lot of difference. And yeah, I am not through yet with my mod.

Question

Not to sound completely ignorant but what is a ESi? Is it an Ex with an Si motor or something or a totally different model?

there is no ESI the ex was a 2 or a 4 door, the SI was a hatchback....either way the ex/si motor was the D16Z6....rated at 125 hp at the crank. Spark plug wires will help it run better but not add any power unless you run an aftermarket ignition. Intake and filter will add a little bit of power. Taking out the cat. wont serve any purpose except to turn on the check engine light. However the larger exhaust will help some and with the right muffler will sound pretty good...

ESi was available here in the Philippines from 1992 to 1994 or such, until the next generation Civic came out. I am not sure if the model came out in Japan, though I would think it did if there's one here. Obviously there's also an ESi in Malaysia, so I think the ESi is only an Asian model.

The cat was replaced by something my friend called a powerflow--essentially a cylindrical object that has the length of a cat. He claimed it helps the flow of exhaust more freely, as the name implied. And no, the check engine light doesn't stay on without the cat in mine, maybe because of the powerflow. What I am worried is if it would pass emissions test, though. But that won't come util 9 months later.

I am not sure if having larger spark plug wires doesn't add power; I have noticed considerable, and consistent, gains with the change in both spark plugs and wires. Obviously it's not just the filter and intake, as I had those before the wires and plugs.

An example of a Civic ESi: http://www.surbo.net/SMSA_240302/. It's the blue one. That one's in Malysia. Here's also a pic of my Civic, with hood open.

Most likely it's the D16, but I'll check. Couldn't just be 105hp, as even as stock it could hold out well on its own against other Civics, as well as other cars.

Funny, it's not a D16 or even D15. It's an RH16. I am not sure if that engine is available in the U.S. Below it are 7 numbers, if it helps. But yeah, I took a good look at it and it's RH16.

Yup, looked at the spot that gunmen01 specified. And yes, the ESi is 1.6L (failed to mention that one).
