primer for mica blue?

Do you put primer on Tamiya Subaru models before Mica blue?
If do which color?
I done my first Suby without primer because it was molded in that nice colorand it was good.

Don't you use primer on every model if your going to paint it? Depends on how light the color is, but I say white primer if it's light, gray in the middle to dark............ I think that's how it was, dealing with the hue of the blue!

I read on Tamiya's site once that their Ferrari 360 in yellow was so when you paint yellow over it, it would be more vibrant, they don't mention primer though! You think their display model are build w/o primer? I don't think so....

I use primer on every my model, but Mica blue is specific color. It's much transparent color and I have only grey primer. If you use it from airbrush it became too dark and it isn't right shade.
I done my first Subaru without primer because body was molded in Mica blue color and finish was good.

Zeljko,
I primed the Safari edition I am currently busy with, and the 1999 WRC I completed previously.
I use Tamiya white primer, the white primer under the paint brightens it up a little and in my opinion gives it a more correct shade.
For the photos you are looking for, did you try www.wrc-online.net ? They have loads of Subaru photos, although I am not sure they will have what you need.

Thanx Ray!

Did you used ordinary white color or some their primer? I can remember only grey primer from Tamiya.
After thyt you used Mica color from spray or airbrush?

I have Tamiya white in spray and auto white color, so maybe one of them can be used.

Zeljko,
I use Tamiya fine white primer, but I would imagine you could use another type of white primer too.
On the 1999 WRC, I used the airbrush, but since then I have had more practice with the spray cans and so chose to use the spray can on the Safari edition.
BTW, the animal guard on the Impreza Safari, do you have any tips on painting the mesh?
Thanks

Ray

I didn't prime my Scooby but I wish I had put a coat of Silver Leaf under the Mica Blue to lighten it up. Mica Blue really isn't a very good match for Subaru's WR Blue, It's too dark.

Yeah I second this. I sprayed TS-50 straight on to the plastic for my Finland Subaru and the result is definitely too dark. Sounds like a coat of TS-17 or -30 first would be the way to go.
