I'm having second thoughts about getting a 01 maxima . I still want a 01 ITR it would be so nice phoneix yellow and i would be the only person in town with one . It's just so hard i've been going back and forth between the Type R and the 20th annerversary edt Maxima . I know their both completely differant cars but i just can't make up my mind at all

Well, I love the Maxima...but it's just a bit too common. As you mentioned, with the Integra you'd be the only person (or one of a very few) in town with one. Exclusivity is very important to me so, you know what my choice would be.

Arrow GOD

I was having a toss-up between Civic Si and 2000 Maxima in the summer of 1999. While I got neither, I went for the Si's close cousin, the Integra GS-R. The main reasons? Handling. The Maxima is a huge car, and it drives bigger than its competition, the Camry and Accord. While its engine is without equal, the rest of the car, even the SE, simply can not deliver the sporting performance that you will get from an ITR. This goes back to the difference between the terms "sports car" and "sports sedan."

If you are serious about performance (to a degree higher than that offered by the Maxima) in curves and non-striaght line settings, there is really no comparison. Convince yourself: test drive both, and see if you prefer the size and power of the Maxima or the agility and quickness of the ITR (and of course remember that the ITR is tunable for much more power, while your handling options are limited in the Maxima). Besides, you can always get yourself a Civic sedan anywhere from 1992 to 2001 and simply bolt a Type R engine and drivetrain into it. Do not be intimidated by the all-mighty engine swap, it is a great idea. AND you can wait a while, I suggest at least waiting until the RSX Type R's release to see what Honda brings to the table. Besides, dealers should be trying to clear out the 2001 ITR's that are left at that point and you should be able to save some.. if they are not already sold at that point.

GOD,

Man, you have to be kidding me. A Maxima over an ITR? Gosh bro. I am the lucky owner of a 2001 Pheonix Yellow ITR and I love it. One thing you will be amazed with is not only the performance, but the handling. It's a great car and I can't believe you are even having second thoughts. If you want something to "pimp" in (like you said in the previous threads), save the Type R for real enthusiasts like myself and get your Maxima. You won't enjoy the ITR if you still have that Maxima in the back of your mind. Just go to the dealer and drive both of them. I bet you choose the R. If you don't you're a moron. I'm hoping to get turbo this summer...wish I was there to beat your Maxima. Check out my site at www.angelfire.com/ga3/yellowitr01

well ....i have to wait one more month before i will be able to get what i want ...and that can either be an ITR or a IS300 . But i think the maxima is too familyish so i might just go with the IS300 if theirs no more ITRs availble where i live . Theirs one more and if its still around in a month i might still consider getting it . And about the IS300 i might just wait for the stick version to come out b/c i dont want no automatic crap

Herman, you dissapoint me. What the hell is that, you turning on Automatic all of the sudden and calling them crap?!?!?!?!?!?!??! While I think you should get the manual, Automatics are not crap!!! They have many advantages!!!! But like I said in a case of speed with no mod's yet, I would go ahead and get the manual(i love manual). And what is this crap about saying the Maxima is too "Familyish"!?!? Yeah maybe the gxe or the gle, but certainly not the SE and MOST certainly not the 20th AE Max!!!!! Your letting people on this board get to your head. While else would you have like the 20th AE in the first place if it was too "familyish"??? Your hearing all this stuff about handling and getting spooked. Herman, you and I both know you aren't going to race on a regular basis, and even if you do, you think it's going to be through turns??? I doubt it. Look at Chris....H/I/E and hardly races even on straight-a-ways. Sure the ITR may have better handling but you'll never use it and you know it. Im serious man, think of the car that will best suit your needs and wants. Whether it be the Max, IS300, or ITR. I just don't see you utilizing the ITR. Like the previous post, leave it to the race car enthusiasts. Now, the IS300 is nice too but it's still a 4 door and it's about 5k more.

And another thing. when it comes to performance, your talking a very small gap when it comes to 0-60.

ITR-6.2(Sport Compact Car Mag. hit 6.1 best)
Maxima SE-6.7(if someone really pushed it, like Sport Compact Car Mag. plus the xtra 5 ponies on the 20th AE) i could see a 6.6 maybe even a 6.5

Wow, so at the most your looking at a .5(maybe .6) second difference.

With that in mind, you have to realize you have to push the Integras engine alot harder to higher rpm's to get it to that 6.2/6.1 mark. The Maxima is going to be a little easier. And last time I checked your not the greatest 5spd driver!!LOL! So if I had the Maxima 20th and you had the ITR, I would bet money that I could beat you!!hehehe

Oh, and what about if the 260 hp Maxima does come out?? hmmmmmmmmm????? Quick!!!!!

yeah i think you would look pimp to have an ITR... the maximas are nice but as they said wayyy too common.. plus the cool factor in saying that you have a type r!! sounds a lot better than saying you have a maxima hehe.. i think you can make them ten times faster toooo... just my .02 worth!

without thinking if i were you GOD i would so get a LEXUS <- doesn't that sound nice? LEXUS IS300 stick shift, that is a pimped out bad ass ride, i love it and isn't it just as fast as a type r?? if the type are goes 0-60 in around 6.3 i'm pretty sure thats around what the IS300 stick is, plus it's sooooo much more luxurious and it's a LEXUS
