Speeding ticket

I am in very much trouble. It was 1:10 New Years, I was driving home. I passed some guy, and then he started tailgaiting me. So I sped up, and he kept doing it. I was clocked at 144 in an 80 (90 in a 50). I had gotten off the highway at the first possible exit, where I maintained a reasonable speed, and where they pulled me over. I had not been drinking. I got a summons to appear in court on the 24th, I was cut no slack (honestly, a G2 driver, driving a drunk friend home on New Years, is tailed by some old guy, gets off the highway ASAP, and he cuts me no slack, very maddening).

Any suggestions on what I should do?

Arrrggg, not a good night.

Can't you wipe it off your record with a driving school?
If not feel lucky that you were'nt drinking. I had a DUI and it is not cheap, I paid a crappy lawyer and was supposed to get a diversion but the paperwork got messed up and I wound up paying the max fine and had my license pulled for a year. It took 3 years to get decent rates on my insurance. Good Luck to you. Plead your case and hope the courtroom is busy maybe you can buy your way out.

Yup, Ive decided to get a good lawyer.
Not sure about the driving school, but I would do that in a heartbeat, thanks for idea. Of course, it will probably be some boring court ordered school, not a fun one, but i just want this ticke to go away. My insurance will kill me.

Traffic school is not an option when you are that far over the limit, it is also at the discretion of the officer to let you take traffic school or not.

I know how you feel; I got a ticket Monday night for doing 88MPH in a 65MPH zone. The officer was really nice and gave me a ticket for going 78MPH in a 65MPH zone plus I get to take traffic school.

Anyhow; there was a site that I knew of that had the loopholes for traffic violations. I will see if I can remember it, though I think you are up shit creek without a paddle on this one.

Good luck man.

Polygon:Hemi's rule!

Chris: If they have the "greater than reasonably prudent" speed law in Canda>> than you are probably screwed. Sorry. Hope you get off though. Hate to see a law abider taken through the meat grinder.

New a guy back in Kansas.. My home state... his idea of a vacation was touring Mopar salvage yards, he was full of Kewl stories and awesome info about mopars, he even had videos of the places he had been to and the people he had talked to. I miss those days. Used to work with him and he would fill me in on what he had seen and bought for next to nothing to add to his collection. Have not seen or talked to him in years.
