Hi guys, I'm looking for a S-15 Sylvia. Anybody out there got one for sale? I'm in the USA. I'd prefer as stock as possible. I under stand all of the legal stuff that I need to do for here (USA DOT/EPA).
If someone in the USA has on for sale (right hand drive only) contact me. I'm looking to purchase and import the car in the next 60 days.

you cannot buy a silvia in the US for driving on the roads. motorex tried to bring them over with the skyline but they failed the crash tests. thus you cannot register an S15 silvia in the US. and i don't know of anyone who imports them. so you would most likey have to import it yourself, which would be very expensive and involved, and then you couldn't drive it on the road anyway. there are however a few S13 silvias and other types of cars that are imported and sold. i know of one for sale right now.

I'm aware !
I'm totally aware of everything that's needed for the US market. I know a couple of people that have already done it. I'm just trying to find the car. I'm not worried about the cost. After I get the Silvia, I'm getting a R-34.
Oh to any who read this I'd prefer a 98+ Silvia. Thanks

well, the S15 started production in 99, so you don't want a 98. and i've never seen an S15 imported here so if you can point me to any of these people who have done it i'd appreciate it, i'm very interested.

S15 Owners
I don't know who bought his but the owner of INJEN corp had one (white S-15). The owner of Nitrous Express (Chris) has a Grey S-15 that is titled (Gray - Market). There is a gentleman, whos name escapes me in Germantow, MD that has a Silver S-15. I believe his is registered (Grey - Market). There is a guy that my friend in Miami works with that has a Black S-15. Not sure if his is registered or not. I do know that he drives it.
I'm trying to find someone who will sell me a S-15. (Gray Metallic) I know how to register the car legally (will as legal as you can get!) as well as illegally. I'm in the automotive performance industry and I'm trying to get one for my soon to open performance shop & as well as for me personally. If I can't find one through this method, I'll either buy one the test mules from one of the companies or go to Japan and buy one wring off of a lot and ship it here. If you're not in the automotive performance industry, make some friends there as well as in the military. These people can get you what you want. Just remember sometimes it won't be cheap!

well, you can import pretty much any car, but getting to drive it on roads legally is another thing. the first few cars you listed are most likely under "test" or research cars. shops can get those kinds of deals so they don't have to comply with road regulations, but they can't be your daily driver. grey market means you can have it but it's still illegal to drive on public roads. grey market cars are used for show and race cars usually. i think you should call around a few places in california, the S13s i know of have been coming thru there. or just hit up a few of those people you listed who have them and ask how they did it.

I own a '01 200SX (S15 Silvia Spec-R) that I wouldn't mind accompanying me to the United States this year. I had run into a dead end and had given up. |

Register Car
First do you want to drive the car everyday?
If so . . ., You'll need to find a totally wrecked 95+ 240SX. Buy the frame from the salvage/junk yard. Remove the VIN Plates/Tags. Have the yard crush the car and then apply for a salvage title at your DMV. When the car gets inspected, tell them it was a full left hand drive conversion (b-pillar forward). If they ask about the rear end, same thing as the front applies to the rear. If not . . ., You'll register, title, and tag the car as a limited use show/promo vehicle. This allows you to drive the car on weekends only. Every state has different rules & regulations, each with it's own set of loop holes. See if you can get a copy of your state's vehicle registration criteria. This will allow you to find loop holes. From my personal knowledge, West Virginia & Kentucky have the most open vehicle registration criteria. You can almost register any two or four wheel vehicle in the world in these two states. EPA/emissions certification is entirely different for every car and state. What you'll go through compared to me, depends on which port of entry, intended vehicle use, inspector, time of year, day of week, etc. Continue this thread if you need more info! BTW, do you know anyone with a S-15 (Grey-Metallic) for sale? I'll take any color, I just prefer gray. Good Luck

Re: Register Car

I'll have to think about it. I thought they held cars at the docks while they were registered/found legal? As for buying a used S15 - check out the "used" section of sites like www.nissan.co.nz. My dealer, Newmarket Nissan, can probably locate the car you want if you give them a call. You'd need to arrange transport though. Any given week there are plenty of cars for sale, usually for around NZ$29-35k depending on year.

Car Prices
Do any of the dealers in New Zealand still have any New 200SX's left? If so, could you please give me their contact info. Or you can give them my email address;
[email protected] I'm not going to say that price is no object, I'm not trying to spend 50,000 for a new/used 200SX. I'll spend 20-40K on a 200SX. I'm a reasonable person and a fair offer will be accepted. All the help that you or any others can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Unfortunately no, they sold out about 2-3 months ago, IIRC. You could probably still get either a demonstrator or a relatively low km model though. You definitely won't be spending NZD40k for a used one, a '02 Spec-R II model (the run-out model with larger 17" ROH wheels, upgraded tires, and badging changes) with low km go for mid 30s.
Your best bet is to browse the used section on their site as I say and get in touch with them.

wow, craziness. i had the same idea about the VIN # swap, but i was also wondering about when it's sitting on the docks. what do i tell them then? it's just for show? some guy did something similar with an evo, he had a lancer, went down to mexico and picked up a nice evo, swapped all the numbers and sold his lancer in mexico and drove back the evo
