Lightbulb Fun Times

Well, these both happened recently. The most recent was last December 24 in the morning. It was after dawn Mass, and the choir was supposed to meet at a retaurant for breakfast. No one was there yet, so I decided to go around for awhile in my Civic. My Civic is a 1993 ESi, and has a Simota air filter and intake, large high tension wires, race spark plugs, power flow (replacing the cat) and a large exhaust. I came up behind a white 1998 Civic, and from the sound of it he is set up just like me, or better. I suspect he's on turbo, judging from the sound as he accelerates. Anyway, he must have noticed me coming behind him, and he reves up and goes. I rev mine up and catch up with him. He does that again, and I catch up with him. 3 or 4 times I actually have the opportunity to get past him, but I really didn't feel like doing it. Early morning, and I still had breakfast to get back to. Funny thing was when we came to the main road, he went up a gas station, and I had to laugh and turn to get back to the breakfast. Our run was around 70-80 kph, in a street full of humps (so we had to decelarate a lot of times).

An even funnier thing happened 2 days earlier. I was at a stop light when this 1991 Nissan Sentra came up, complete with stickers, mags and spoiler. He sees me, revs up. I revved mine up, and he looked at me in a funny way. When the light turned green, he suddenly turned right. I thought he was going to race me! I figured he chickened out the moment he heard me rev. I wouldn't back down on him (I just passed by another car that looks set up, but didn't even accelerate when I passed him).

Good kill on the first. It was a dud on the second one. Perhaps he wanted you to follow him to a specific racing area?

Doubtful. I know the area quite well, and there's not much of a race area nearby. Besides, the street we're on is straight, so we can race there (just quite a few cars around to impede traffic, though).

Just tonight, before going home from choir practice, I passed some cars, and there's this one car that seemed to follow me. He was about 2 cars behind. Sensing this, I took off, and he never even caught up. I didn't find out what car it was, though. I just looked at my rearview mirror and saw him still trying to catch up, about 10 cars behind. ^_^

Forgot to put in my first kill, which was a 2002 Toyota Altis. It happened 2-3 weeks back, before I had my filter, intake, high tension wires and SplitFire. All I had were my exhaust and the power flow (which replaced the cat). It was a stretch about 1-1.5 (or maybe a bit more) km. long. If I wasn't going to the mall at the very end of that stretch, I would've gone all the way to the highway with him. But anyway, it started with both us even. I put in to first, and pulled away from him. He tries to catch up, and then I get into second quickly. Put in to third after getting into the desired rpm, and looked behind to see him about 5 cars away. I drive at 100 kph halfway, and by now he's far behind. Nice day for me. With my set-up now, I would think he'll be far behind even faster.
