I was cruising on the interstate comming back from down town Charleston when I passed by a new V6 Tib. I let him catch up to me and we sat still beside each other (I was waiting for him to hit it) at 70mph. He hit it and we were off, I kept inching foward in third and when I 3-4 shifted I had about a car length on him. I didn't fly by but I was really suprised. I thought they had more umph in them. I had a full setup, full spare, full gas tank, and full stomach, with a full wife. 1 V6 tib owned!

if u look at the stats of the cars, his car should beat it. there is no surprise there. u have more power, and more torque in a car that weighs almost equal.
good kill still 1sikmax. i jus don't like ppl who make comments like that. im taking nothin away from ur post or ur kill.

Ahh, the new Tiburon. A bigger disappointment perhaps has never been seen in its price range. The styling is nice, if horribly cribbed from the elegant Ferrari 456GT, and the specs all say that it should be a great pocket rocket, but everything I've seen points to a car that's undersprung, loosely geared, and overweight.
*sigh* How long until the Tiburon becomes a car for non-posers? Thanks for blowing one off. It keeps the engineers working when they get embarrassed.

Ive seen a V6 tiburon take out a gsrs, SIs, and 1.8t gtis. Maybe the one you raced was an automatic or was perhaps laden with luggage. It also has very good struts. It really isnt a bad deal at 18k.
I dont see any similarity between the tib and the 456gt. Its a hatch.

The side sculpting, long hood-short deck shape, and egg-crate front grille were all swiped (even according to the Hyundai styling department) from the Ferrari 456GT.
If Mazda can get a 20K Protege to run through the 60ft slalom as fast as a Porsche 911, then Hyundai should be able to figure out how to eliminate the mulish understeer and excessive body lean that the current Tiburon has.

You subscribe to R&T as well I see
![]() Tiburons are okay, but they're still not that fast... It may have a bigger engine than the other cars in it's segment, but it's still in that segment. Enter the SRT4 and new SVT Focus, as well as the Mazdaspeed Protege, and it's left lacking. With 3 new factory turbocharged cars in the arena, it's facing some very stiff competition. I still maintain that the GTI is the way to go, with factory Audi stuff available for 230hp, under warranty. 1.8t all the way!

wuts ur point? heh, never said it was impossible. stock vs stock tho, good luck. with the weight of it...it's gonna take a better driver in the tib to beat it.

Only sayin the new tibs weaknesses can be found in most of the cars sharing its niche, including the GTI
. I think "A bigger disappointment perhaps has never been seen in its price range" is an exaggeration, thats all. Its actually much improved from the previous model. SCC rated it 7th out of nine :/ , beating the new SI and 1.8t.

I didn't say that a tib couldn't beat an integra. i kno the car, an wut it can do. u gasp as if i think the car is unbeatable. i kno that the integra has a huge problem in the torque area, but what honda doesn't? the new gti's aren't all that u've made them out to be. go ahead, $1000 in each car, its jus gonna come down to what each person puts into them. neither is going to have much of an advantage, i'll give it probably::gasp:: to the gti, simply because of the way honda tunes their motors. u can put a full i/h/e (this is only one of MANY ways to go), onto most cars, an you'll see that the power gains will be much higher than that on a honda. the b' series motors were made by honda to be pushing the most amount of power possible, making it a lot tougher (or atleast more expensive) to create usable power. w/ i/h/e on my car, u feel hardly any difference from the stock, other than a little more top end pull. whereas, ppl i kno with cars like altimas, or gti's, have much more noticable power, both at high, and low rpm. i am a honda entusiast, an so i come off biased at times, but i still know they can be beaten, an that other cars are better for tuning. to all their own i guess eh?
jus one more thing in this whole ramble. since when does low end torque really matter that much, except off the line, or if u are pushing over 100 more thoughout the powerband? a gti beats a honda off the line, but the honda catches it during vtec? no? i thought racing was who got to the end 1st, not who got the early lead. jus a guess tho, but thats the way i understand it. IM NOT SAYING THE GTI WOULD LOSE ALL THE TIME! . jus simply that the low torque isn't going to matter much, if it can't match the top end pull.

Just wanted to make sure you weren't one of these kids who would go off screaming about how there's no way a stock Hyundai could beat an Integra
![]() I like the 1.8T GTIs because the factory exhaust system flows quite well, and you don't need to replace the factory box filter, because it will flow about as well as any aftermarket piece you can get. That frees up money for things like boost controllers, suspension upgrades, and other areas where you see a real increase in performance. That's the big reason I like the GTI, that and it's fluid powerband that gives you excellent power at any engine speed.
