I backed the car onto flat ground, added another gallon of gas, but yet it still would not start; but would turn over. A gentlemen who stated he was not a mechanic did something w/ my spark plug wires and said from what he can c Im getting no fire. I had no warning signs or n e thing, just wouldnt start back up. Please help its right after x mas and Im a single mom. Thank u in advance.

found out what was wrong
It ended up being my fuse....I pulled them all out to check them, none were blown, but when I got back in to start the car it worked. Can u have a fuse loose or not making a good connection?

I drive a 92 accord dx 4dr manual trans. I sometime have a problem starting. I believe I have "Vapor Lock". Not being able to be absolutly sure thats the problem (and if it was ...too expensive to fix) This usually happens when I shut the car down and start it back up within usually 20 min. Thats means when I go to 7-11 I have to leave it running and bring the spare key to unlock it when i come out. First stick a screwdriver in the gas hole to let some of the vapor out...then (while keeping the screwdriver in)I turn the key ...I think its one click..I know its where your battery light and the yellow check engine light come on, but your not turning the key fully to crank the engine. Leave it in this position rock the car slighly as you sit in the drivers seat...wait about 5-10 seconds AFTER the YELLOW Check engine light to come off (ive waited up to 10 min once for the yellow light to go away) and then crank the engine....DONT TURN THE KEY BACK TO OFF, or youll have to do the whole process over. Sometimes it takes likes 3 tries B4 it will start. Any questions email Title it "Honda Accord/Starting".
I really think Vapor lock is your problem. Last edited by K99999; 12-04-2003 at 02:19 PM. |

Re: Honda Accord wont start HELP pls
I changed the spark plkus, dis. cap, router, bought a new coil, the old got gas to it so I took it back my battery was charged to 13.5, and my starter worked fine. My lights are not going dim, so I dont think its my alternator. It will turn over , but not start. And I'm not getting any fire! What do I do next?

Re: Honda Accord wont start HELP pls
This thread is over two years old!
You better start a new one. Alternator is not envolved in starting a car. In a new thread explain your statement about "old gas". I did not see anything about wires. Sam

Re: Honda Accord wont start HELP pls
kkdogg13----You did a lot of things with the shotgun approach of fixing things with no fix. A better method might be to do some troubleshooting before replacing things. That being said the next thing to check/change is the igniter in the distributor. It takes the signal from the ECU and acts as the points in an older car to switch on the coil. But it could also be the ignition switch or the ECU or the distributor or the main relay . Many of these things can be checked with a voltmeter.
