I need Windows help techies
Okay, I am running XP professional on a Dell. Whenever I try to open My Documents (or ay folder for that matter, My Pics, My Computer, anything) is brings up the error icon. It says that I have a problem with explorer.exe. I have restarted about 800 times, and I have tried canceling all tasks on cnrt-alt-del, but it still brings up the error. I haven't downloaded anything in about 2 weeks on this computer. Is this a slow acting virus? The Dell guy had me revert my computer back 7 days last time I had a problem, how do I get this computer to do it? (Remember, I can't open up the folder to find it, so I need it's exact location) I know I can format, but is there anyone who thinks they can fix this?

OK, do you have GoBack on your computer?? (I believe all copies of XP came with it.) Before Windows starts up it should have a screen saying "Press ESC if you want to blahblahblah restore your hard drive." Or something. Just hit esc. and do what that thing says, restore the OS back to two weeks ago if necessary. If you don't have GoBack, I would say pull the h.d. and mount it as slave in another comp then pull data off and format and reinstall Windows and everything from the beginning.

Ok make sure that you have no viruses first cuz i've seen some do that before. Then use the System Restore aka Roll Back feature All XP version have it and is under the programfiles>accssories>systemtools>Systemrestore. Boingo was thinking of a roxio product. If you don't want to do that i'll give you the registry adresses where to look for explorer keys and see if they are corupted. But first of all make sure that you don't have a virus. because a lot of vuruses like to enter registry keys to launch themselves when you launch a certain program or certain type of executables.
BTW can you tell exactly what error message you getting. Also can you launch other executables?
