accord vs stock max

First let me start off by saying my max is 200 % stock i have no engine werk done i got the white out lites for the front and i took maxima off the back like most do.. as we know a 96 max is running about 196 hp the silver serffer is running about 235 hp on his 99 v6 accord 2dr.......so after lifting his hood and him telling me how i need to start hooking up my car and how bad he'll beat me in a race..i know the deal i have respect for my car i drive a maxima..(No way in hell an accord is beating me i dontcare what kind of intake or exhust you got or little yellow wire covers..)so i said SET IT we got a quarter mile in the rich neighborhood...sent out the calls i wanted some people to see it and we needed two cars to block a side street....our boy drove his car up to check a 1/4 mile for the finsh line....So the track was set for a 1/4 mile 1 2 3 go and as quick as he said go it was finished.............. I beat him by a car and a half in a quarter mile :finger: So just as a word to you 6 banger cats out there dont step to a max and try and leave with anything :bandit:

If your post is true congrats but a thread on the org says stock to stock/w auto tranny, an accord will beat a Max unless we manually shift. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....threadid=70821 Personally I find this hard to believe based only on the 0 to 60 times posted by all the major auto publications stating the Max will win but I've never raced one.

the AV6 ran quarter in like high 15s or low 16s...(i think..)
and Maxima auto can do 1/4 in like mid to high 15s...it should be close..but you don't have to manually shift to beat it..sometimes letting the tranny shift is the best way to do a 1/4...i'm telling u cuz you can't shift faster or more accurately than the computer..

the vteck controler made his car go slower because he said he dont know how to use it..... Well i beat him again the pullys helped him out some more but it wasnt enought to beat my third gear....the cat above me is wrong about the accord beating any maxima....stock vs stock the max will do it in auto or stick....your right tho chief you will never be able to shift faster than an auto but i can so why dont you werk on your technique and then throw more doe in your car.....This bad boy 96 5spd max has come to its end its almost sold im using the doe toward a new max.....2000 body and an engine swap....no more street racing i think its time to go to the track:smoka:

Irv You did not read my post correctly. I was not saying the Max would lose to the Accord I was showing there was a post on that topic though and I gave 0 to 60 times not 1/4 mile times.

i've beat the older V6s
a 97 one, he was stock i only had intake and pullies
he only beat me once when i had 4 peeps in the car and he had 2
the rest of the time i got em off the line

yeah, the v-tec controllers are tricky..if u don't set it properly, it will not give u the benefits...

the v-afc will slow u down if u didnt dyno ur car to set it up

a guy on accordV6.com has i/h/e/p and v-afc and he raced another sedan just like his but with only i/e and he barely lost
he was amazed that the other accord didnt have headers, meaning his v-afc wasnt tuned properly, he could only run like 15.9 at the track too

Is it bad to race in automatics?
When i raced my maxed against a 96 mustang.. he beat me by an inch or so.. it was real close cuz we were like head to head.. besides he DID FOR SURE had a rollin' start.. and the person said go.. i thought i did pretty good... and this is a 97 stock GLE max... we raced again the 2nd time.. and this time i beat him by a hood of my car... but i did a rollin' start this time.. a few days later after the race.. my alternator broke... i haven't raced again after that happened.. cuz that lil piece cost me like 150$...

So Can i Still Race?!?!
