How do I get 90-91 hatch bumper off?

Alright... someone told me a couple days ago that taking the bumper off was extremely easy and took like 20 mins. Anyway I was like hey this means I can take that intake silencer off and maybe free up some power. Anyway I started at like 5 and at about 7 I had achieved nothing other than lose a screw that holds in a corner light. Something tells me that the guy who told me it was easy drives and 88 or an 89. Anyway my haynes only tells me how to get the 88-89 off also.

So here I am, the metal filler b/t the headlights and bumper has to come off. In order to get the filler piece off the headlights have to come off, so I take out the headlights...only one problem...there's one bolt left that I can't get off without taking off the filler piece. it's pissing me off.

So 90-91 folks....how the hell do I get this thing off? I think I'm overlooking something, anyway all suggestions are good and my dad owns his own garage and builds tranny's for a living so I have pretty much every tool ever made available to me...it's sad, my whole basement looks like a snap-on dealer multiplied by 10.

Go to the body section, then front bumper.

by intake silencer do u mean that huge box that is supposed to collect the water? if this is what u are talkin about, you can get it out by pullin the wheel well out and i think its 2 10 mm bolts

I think to take the bumper off you have to take the screws out of the bumper lights, take out the housing and there are 2 10mm bolts behind that, then take 2 screws out from the tire well on each side, lift up on bumper and there ya go. To take the intake silencer out i think there are a couple bolts on the bottom and a few on top, but you should be able to see them all.

yeah its simple

like Theodditie said...

take out the indicators and u should be able to get to two bolts .... then there r screws in the wheel arch two each side i think then there are a few screws on the bottom. It did not take me too lnog ... when i first had my civic i had to take it off to fit some mesh to the bumper.... i aint exactly the best with cars in the world .... probly only took like 15 mins max to get it off and i did not know what i was doing ...

Thanks yall, yeah I was trying to take just the skin off. I saw those bolts after I posted this message and figured it out, thanks anyway though, I guess since I was in a hurry I fucked up, anyway I drove around all day today not realizing that my corner light was hanging out. Until I parked it at work that is. So I bought some duct tape and rigged it up til I could get home and find a screw that would hold that thing in. Thanks for all the help though
