My new exhuast makes noise...

I just got my 5zigen fireball catback installed. It's about a year old. Works fine, but after about 20 minutes of driving, especially in colder weather, it makes kinda popping/scraping noises when i turn or go over large bumps. Is it my hangers? All my connections are tight. Help!

maybe your exhaust is scraping on the speed bump

nope, it's when i turn too. plus i'm not lowered so it's the same as having a stock exhaust. it's not hittin in the rear, it's in the middle.

why not drive in a circle, while someone else watches the car to see if there is anything hitting the ground. are you sure that its the exhaust making the noise, and not something else?

If it scrapes in the middle readjust your hangers. If it's hittine your chassis of the car or you gas tank readjust your hangers. By readjusting bend the hangers until it fits right.

Could be something else too. How many miles on your car? Could be CV joints clicking/scraping. Could be tires rubbing against something.

I don't think it's the exhaust that's doin' it, like SIRacer said, could be CV joints or something else.

no. it's happening right where the exhuast is, along the middle tubing, about 2 feet behind the cat. plus i installed it 2 days ago, and that is exactly when it started making the noise. it seems to get worse when it is cold out.

go over a speed bump, then stop right when you hear that noise, then get out and look under your car and see whats going on

i told you. it happens more than on bumps, and it doesn't always happen on bumps. it's mostly on turning, and moreso in cold weather.

Sounds like the cat - not your exhaust. Did you check the heat sheild on the catalytic converter???

LMFAO, it doesnt matter if its the same cat youve always used... cats DO NOT last forever, they need to be replaced from time to time... and it is possible that if gone unchecked the heat sheild can come loose and cause rattles.

but isn't it quite unusual that it would happen EXACTLY when i put in my new exhaust? BTW sparq, you're a damn negative person. i know shit about exhausts obviously. don't treat me like an idiot, just cuz you know more. either be a help, or shut up.

If you've been around here as long as we have you'd understand. We've seen so many idiots roll through here asking stuff and then they call us idiots and then a week later they find out that what we suggested was right. Happens all the time, so just chill guy. And it looks like he is helping, he's giving his input on what he thinks it is and why. Now play nice children.
