Screw you, US Customs, Hawaii

Hi y'all.

The man from down under reporting from on top. At Vancouver, Canada airport right now to have a royal WHINGE about WTF is up with US customs in Hawaii airport! We had to get off our plane for our 1 hour stop over, go completely through US customs to enter the US, then check back in through security and whatever. And the most fucked up thing is we ended up back in the same lounge!!! We could have just stayed contained in there. Pain in the ass. Oh well, will keep all updated on how the Whistler snow is.

Oz

You're not going through anything that everyone else has to. Hawaii has some very strict rules about what can be brought on the island and what cant. The airport has a very poor design so you quite often have to go from one side to another on connecting flights (had to do that on my way to Siapan). Because of that, you have to go through customs "again".

Having travelled to the U.S. [Houston] with a U.S. citizen friend,I can tell you from experience that non-U.S. nationals get a much more thorough inspection from the U.S.authorities.In fact, the immigration depatment was so completely arrogant, slow, inefficient and surly that I now avoid travelling via the States completely when visiting Europe.

true that- when I was going from LAX---->JFK airport on the way to Italy- anyone not holding a US passport had to be checked THOUROUGHLY as in shoes, laptops, bags and all the stuff in your bag. However the US citizens go straight on through- quite frankly it's discrimination- for all we know a US citizen could have plastic explosives in his shoes- BOOM! there goes the plane.

Needless to say...I'll be coming to New Zealand via London via Sinapore vis Australia next time I visit
