Haven't seen it yet, But I'll be seeing it some time next week. In the words of a good friend of mine (with an interesting vocabulary)
"After reading the books fifty, you just know it's gonna top!"

I had an opportunity to see it free at 9 a.m. yesterday (that's right, BEFORE the pathetic people who've been camping out for four days) but I turned it down. Seeing a movie that doesn't end isn't worth waking up before 11 a.m. I plan to see all 3 consecutively when they're out on DVD though.

I will probably go see it some time before the new year.

Gotta love the fact that the 2 biggest movies out at the moment are directed by KIWIS

i agree.. there wasnt really a end to this one either... its one LONG story.. but i saw it anyways... for the battle scene.. i think it almost rivals braveheart's even though it was moslty computer generated..it looked so real though!!

but, anyone else feel bothered by the begining.. with all the movie previews.. have we run out of new ideas.. i think there was only one new movie.. the jim carey as GOD one.. the rest.. were all sequels....t3, dumb and dumber and dumberer, bad boys 2, destination 2, blah blah blah.. next year = year of sequels.. i still see them of course.

We are going to see if we can get tickets for a Sunday Matinee showing. Considering the $$$ the movie is already raking in - the theaters must be packed.

I did the Uber nerd thing and got up at 2am to catch the 2:40am showing in the city on the day it opened.
Got a ticket, but only just, the Cinema was nearly sold out.

And all I can is........

GO AND WATCH IT!
If you thought the 1st one was awsome this one is even better.

From the opening scene with Gandolf tackling the belrock at the start to the massive 10,000 strong assult on helms deep at the end I was rivited to the screen.
Sat there for 3hrs and it all went past in a flash.
Awsome almost totaly flawless effects, and LOTS of Blood and violence, and I mean lots!
Theres is plenty of peter Jackson style humor as well, think Brain dead and meet the feebles with a multimillion dollor budget and a huge dollop of class and sophistication.

Purists who know the books really really well will spot some differnces, but they are minnor and in no affect the story. (I didnt spot them, but a mate did).

Sweet!

He made good comic relief in the 1st half of the movie, but I was impressed that he did finnaly get to do some real fighting and prove he is a true Dwarf towards the end.

Never saw the first. Never will see either the first nor the second. I've already seen too much of Two Towers from watching The Travel Channel's New Zealand: The Royal Tour documentaries. Reminds me... I should go so I can catch the first hour of it tonight.
