Never heard of someone putting THAT engine in there... I doubt it would fit (its an i6 from a...skyline? pardon me if im wrong), and it would be hella expensive to fabricate. And V8's will still stomp all over for cheaper.

I know you know its not a rotary, but i still have to say it....

its still no comparison to a rotary.

In all due respect, if you are going to spend lots of money putting in that R26DETT whatever engine in, you might as well stay with the spinny spirit and put a 3 rotor cosmo engine in... after about $12k getting it in there and another lets say $6k in mods, a 3 rotor will own. Everything. Those are crazy powerful engines.

yeah the rb26 would need a lot of custom fabricated parts and would be very expensive. The rb26 had 280hp at the crank stock. But I would estimate 10-15k to get the swap complete. Dont forget that the rb26 is 4wd, so that would be extra money and a lot more time if you plan on powering all 4 wheels. For the amount of money you would spend, you could have just put all of that money into the rx7 and have 1 fast car. Also a con of having the rb26 in there would make the rx7 VERY front heavy. It would just destroy the weight ratio and would make the rx7 turn like a pig.

If for some reason you just HAD to have a nissan motor in the car then you could swap in an SR20.

Check out the progress on this guys swap

Well, although I think the RB26 is a great moter... I'm not sure it would be a very good swap for a 7.

Steel and J Spec made some good points. I'd prefer a 3 rotor Cosmo ass kicker (in an RX7 anyway) And the RB is definatly heaver, now how much this would effect the handeling, I'm not sure, but there would be some difference. Also the RX7 being FR, it would shift the center of mass forward and take traction away from the rear tires.

Oh, and a slight correction on the HP of an RB. Dyno tests have proven time and time agian that all the RB26DETTS from R32-R34 model GTRs throw around 300-310 hp
