Exclamation 2000 F150 Transmission question!!!

Hey everyone. I have a 2000 F150 that is automatic and has 70k on it. I have been experiencing some type of vibration at take off. It feels like their is slipping in the first gear or something. It seems to only do it when I give it just a little more gas to get it to take off a bit quicker. Now I'm not talking about 0 to 60 in two seconds or nothing just a bit quicker acceleartion, not even enought to get the engine really reved up. Anyways, my question is:

Is this vibration a precurser to more terrible transmission problems or could it be something else?

I started to think that maybe there could some barings in one of the wheels that are going bad that would cause the vibration. But wouldn't the vibration continue through all gears?

Anyways any help would be very appreciated. I am a college student and can't afford to have to replace a transmission. Thanks again.

sounds like torque converter shudder, go to your local transmission parts store and ask them for something to take care of torque converter shudder and they will sell you a little bottle of stuff to put in your trans and that should fix the problem, if it doesnt then you are only out about 10 buck and it is a cheap thing to try

Re: 2000 F150 Transmission question!!!

Does the truck run ok otherwise? At 70k it shouldnt need a tuneup, but ive had to do tuneups on some with alot less. A miss on one or more cyls could be causing your symptoms. Maybe pull a couple of plugs and see what they look like. I think Auto Zone will still read trouble codes for you, maybe that will show a problem.

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice. I will go tomorrow and get the stuff for the torque converter. The truck does run perfect otherwise. The problem actually seems to stop once the truck gets totally warmed up. Thanks again.
