My Maxima has a weird sound ,it is a whining sound and it happens when I accelerate or if it's in nuetral and I let off the clutch. The sound goes away whenever I push in the clutch. It seems to get better as the car warms up. The reason I'm worried is because when I take it out of gear and go to put it into another gear it makes a revving type sound yet the RPM's dont jump at all.Im not sure what is wrong anything would help.:sun:

I think you may need to get your clutch replaced or at least have it checked out before you go racing any Mustangs, even if they're just base models.

my 97 maxima does the same thing---push the clutch while your rolling at say 45 mph and then down shift to say 2nd and you here a whine--right. well here is what it is. the gears for second are a lot taller gear and when you downshift it spools up to say 45 mph and the efeective running gear ratio in the gear box/tranny is much faster so what your hearing is normal, its just the taller gears spinning.
