4th gen Accord Questions.

What are the advantages and disadvantages to this car?
What are some of the engine options (swaps and such)?
What is it best to look for when buying one?
What are the hardest parts to come by for them?

I've had my 93 for 5 years now and it is still going strong. I have it slammed and it still handles well and I love it. I am getting a Teggie today, but I won't get rid of my Accord. It is a strong car. Lots of room inside. I know you can swap engines with a Prelude, but mine was just a show car. My problem is the front fenders bend easily so never lift the car by those...lol. My friend once asked how to make an Accord faster, and this guy replied, put 18's on it and cruise it...

Well, I've been into customizing civics for about 2 years now, and lately I've just been wanting a car I can just cruise in, and my Civic is not very ideal for just cruising.
Now I did have a 4th gen accord a while back (sold it in favor of a civic), and I like the 4th generation accords the best, as far as how they look... but being a civic man, I'm also pretty geared towards speed, so I've got to know I could have a little something under the hood, ya know.

Also if anyone has any interior or exterior pictures, or information websites they could post (like how to's on h22a swaps) that would be most appreciated.

You can make them faster. I just laugh at the comment cause that is what I did. Not sure of exact engine swaps, but I've always wanted to drop a Prelude in mine and I know that can make them pretty quick. One of my favorites too though...the back windows roll all the way down. It was the last year they did and I love that and so do people that ride in the back...lol.

So are there any major differences between the years? I assume the 92-93 is different from the 90-91 because almost all parts I see are for 92-93... and I've also noticed most aftermarket parts are for sedans.

So the back windows do roll all the way down? cool

There are some differences. Like I know the rear lights are different and some other things. I got a Haynes manual though...it says 90-93 right on front so they are basically the same car.

Really the only difference is cosmetic things like were mentioned. 92-93's tail lights have the red on top and amber on the bottom. 90-91 is opposite. Front bumper is different.

H22 and H23 are pretty much the only swaps to go with. It would be a very dumb choice to put a b series into it when you can get the "big block" cheaper. http://www.h22a.org/4gswap.htm < Link for "how-to"

As said on another board, there are two types of 4th Gen Accords: Ones that have had the distributor replaced and ones that WILL need their distributor replaced So check that out in the maint. records. Also check rear quarter panel for rust around wheels.

Hardest parts.... ummm you can get pretty much anything cosmetic like bodykits, wheels (4x114.3 in case you wondered), Red/clear tails (mmm sexy!), suspension parts, etc. Theres not a whole lot of choices compared to Civics and Tegs, but you'll find what you need.

Hondasociety.com has probably the best 4th gen specific forum on the web so you might wanna check that out.

Rollinon18s:

what kind of suspension do you have? and do you have any type of camber kit? being tucked that much you must have terrible camber... although it does look damn nice.

btw, do you just have a bunch of junk in the trunk or am i crazy, but the rear looks lower than the front.

Well... thanks for the help... I think I'll be selling my Civic and getting a 92-93 Accord about February or March (wait until the winter months are over)

Strodda:

If you really look at the fenders, the back ones look lower so my car looks like the ass is lower, but actually the car is level. If someone rides in the back though...then I almost tuck lug nuts...lol. I have no camber kit, if I put one on it then instead of rubbing the inside fender wells I would rub the outter ones. I cut my springs and I'll tell ya what I will not complain about the ride. It is smooth with hardly any bounce (cut the bump stops a little and it makes a world of difference). The new teggie I got has coilovers and I hate the ride. I feel like I am driving on bricks.
