me and my bro recently did a b16 swap into a crx about a month ago... the kid who we did it for has come back with a problem and i was wondering if anyone in here has run into this problem or knows what it could be....
running the car up to about 5500-6500 rpms, the car tends to stall, lag a lil bit, it gets pushed back... the tricky part is that it doesnt always do it at the same rpm...my brother is taking it up to the shop where he works tomorrow to see if he can do anything tomorrow... the kid had been told it was a faulty vtec solenoid, he replaced it and it is still the same... so i was just wondering if anyone in here could help us out.... thanks, julian |

My SiR had the same problem - you could see a big lag-spike in the dyno runs when the VTEC cut in. Would you believe that the solution was a change in fuels? I used to run Shell Optimax (bear with me on brand names, I live on the other side of the world remember) 98 Octane in it but found that BP Ultimate 98 octane was smoother and gave a bit more grunt as well as a different tone to the engine on revs. The lag/spike disappeared after 2 tanks.
Maybe (very possibly) the fuel you are running doesn't suit the motor? It's only a guess though. Try dropping some octane booster in to see. |

Doesn't work. I tried that. I used racing fuel (100) and still bogs. I'm pretty sure me and him have similar problems. |

Check your O2 sensors.. Also, you might want to get the car timed.

I have the same probs although i have a 16 valve, 1.5 litre, and mine bogs down evrytime i switch into a new gear. This ALWAYS happens after i run it for bout 10 -30 minutes. I cant figure it out. Im gonna switch my sparks and my fuel filter and see what happens from there. Someone told me it was the clutch, but i know its not cause it engages pefectly. Anyways i really cant drive for more than 1/2 hour because it does this.
