1986 325

Trying to help a friend out, recently purchased 1986 325 with 2.7L I-6/5 speed. Cranks well with no hint of low compression. 127K miles and seems to be a pretty decent car. No spark, no injector pulse, possibly no fuel pressure even though a new high pressure pump was installed according to owner. Swapped several relays with known good. Voltage to the coil is good, no signal to fire it. Rotor is turning. Question is this... Where is the cam sesnor located (if it has one)? Crank sensor up front appears to be un-damaged. Does this car utilize an ignition module/ignitor and if so where is the location? Or does the computer somehow do it all? Is there possibly something similar to an ASD relay that may cause this, or is there a common fault that needs to be located? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated and I look forward to any replies...

Expected response... I was hoping to avoid that, and of course taking the car to the dealer would probably be the right thing to do.. eventually!I apologize for not knowing enough about BMW's in the first place; I think that they are fine automobiles. Thing is in the last 11 or so years as an ASE Certified Master Tech I never worked at shops that specialized or catered to them. I have done some of the basic maintenence. If worst comes to worst, I have suggested doing a transplant with a 5.0 Liter Ford drivetrain! Not quite as refined perhaps, but boy would it run!

Re: 1986 325

on the drivers side of the trans there are two sensors, they read the flywheel and tell the computer where it is, replace them
