Starting

All right, I think I'm gonna go buy a model, maybe today. What else should I get to start? Knife, glue, paint....

Make sure you go Tamiya!
You want your first project to go together well, and for that only one company will do!!!
Plus a great range!!!

OK, I'm back, but I need to go back to the store to get the paints, because I didn't know which ones I would need until I opened the darn thing.

I'm now the proud owner of a Tamiya Renault R5 Turbo (I LOVE those cars.... )

I don't have either a digicam or a scanner here

Also, they were all out of flat black. Of course that's the color I need the most...I'll just have to keep checking back

Noooooooooooo!!!!

I want A Renault R5 Turbo!!!!!

I am jealous now!!!!!!!!

You can spray the matt black if you want, actually, semi gloss black looks much better!!!

Just buy some automotive Semi gloss black bumper paint, spray each part with a plastic primer first, then a coat of bumper spray, and you will be pleased with the result.

All the black parts on my S2000 were done that way.........

Heh! That's my perpetual problem.

X-18 Semi-gloss black is by far the color I buy the most. I go through a bottle every three models or so.

Tamiya kits come with a list of the colors you need, in order by their X-numbers, but I usually dross-reference them to the rest of the instructions so I don't accidentally buy purple, when it's one of the optional colors. Go ahead and but all the colors it asks for; you'll find the next kit uses 90% of the same colors: Flat Aluminum, Steel, Metallic Gray, etc... Then you'll have a sturdy stable of paint in your basic car colors.

Yeah, it's www.racebuffs.com, but I don't see them listed there.

Actually it's just the black (or red) road car with "Turbo" decals on each door. I can't even find it on their website.
