Help! it won't run right

Hi,

I have an '84 cressida V6 w/207,000 miles. Last week it started to idle poorly and lose power esp under low rpm acceleration. The tach would suddenly drop and then pick up again. I replaced the fuel filter, pump, plugs (dirty) and nothing is happening. The rpm's are lower than normal and the engine sounds like it is missing. It's real cold out and I am getting desperate. It runs so poorly I cannot drive it at all.

Help
Thanks in advance
Jon

Do you have a volt meter? You may want to check to see how much juice you have in your battery because this sounds like a possible symptom of a dead alternator. My 84 SX had a similar sounding problem, the problem was that the fuel injection, ignition system, and every other elecrical component in my car was trying to run off the battery with no charge from the alternator. Which really screws up performance and overall drivability. Not to mention that the battery eventually dies, but thats after the car runs like utter crap and won't go much faster than 50.
