HKS Celica GT-four

Another wicked creation by HKS. Didn't catch any specs where I found the photos. Any ideas?

I believe it's front wheel drive. That would explain the wheelie tires in the back. What are the specs on it?

Re:

All i know is that car is front wheel drive and does the 1/4 in 9 secs. I think HKS didnt release what specifics it did to the car but I do know they said that the car contained a lot of there shit in it.

That's what I was thinking. But after looking at the second pic, those rear wheels would be useless if it's a GT-four. That is why I wanted to see specs. I just wanted to be sure. I personally don't think it is a gt-four. So, someone please get some specs in here. I'm going to see if I can find some.

good point the celica gt four were always all wheel drive not front or rear i think you right about it not really being a gt four.

Re:

"The HKS Celica is the first FWD import into the 9s -([email protected]) to be exact.

The builders yanked the stock five-speed transmission and swapped in an X Track sequential unit that features an AP 5.5-inch diameter triple-plate clutch. The X Track, used in Super Touring cars, allows an array of different gear ratios. The set-up allows the HKS Drag Celica to ideally make the 1-2 shift after the 60-foot mark and cross the finish line just before redline in top gear.

Naturally, a full complement of HKS components is used to generate 560 horsepower from the Toyota 3S-GTE four-banger. These include 9.3:1 forged pistons, connecting rods, metal head gasket, 273-degree intake and exhaust cams, adjustable sprockets, F-CON V fuel computer, wastegate and GT3240 ball-bearing turbo and stainless-steel 4-into-1 exhaust manifold. "

I copied this from www.alltrac.net, and i think its a direct quote from an article about the car. I remember reading it somewheres, just dont remember where.

Wait, so it has a GT-four engine (3S-GTE), but it's front-wheel-drive? What did they do, switch out the rear end, or start with a non-GT-four and turbocharge/swap the motor? Yeah, those rear tires looked a bit too skimpy to provide rear traction. Looks like Japan is finally getting serious about front-wheel-drive drag racing phenomenon.

Actually, this car is quite "old". HKS built that car in '97 or '98 I believe. When it was built it was the fastest FWD car in the world. That is what HKS was after, and they got it.

Fastest front-wheel-drive in the world? They should bring it over Stateside and match it up with our import dragsters...or did they already?

Yes it's FWD

Yes it's 3sgte

Yes that car is old as hell.. back when it ran 9 it was amazing, but now it's no big deal.

There is another FWD Celica out now that is looking at 9s. It just ran a 10.10 on the first run, so 9s aren't far away.

I'd like to see someone run 9's with the newer Celicas with a turbo 2ZZ-GE.
