RWD Corolla, Steering Problem.

This is an 80' Corolla, original 3tc. factory suspension parts (I think),, the car shakes while accelerating. happens at 25 to 50 mph,, after 50 or 55 it stops doing it,, The steering wheel shakes, and the whole car shakes. What is it??

Re: RWD Corolla, Steering Problem.

It could be many things, tires need balanced, bent tire rim, half shaft drive axle bearing shot.

I would check and see if the rubber boots on your drive shafts are in good condition or torn? Also look and see if you see any heavy grease splatter near any of the rubber boots.

How many miles on the car and do you know any repair history on the car?

Re: RWD Corolla, Steering Problem.

It is RWD, which means is has a live axle in the rear; that is, no CV joints. How old are the tires? When were the wheels last aligned?

Re: RWD Corolla, Steering Problem.

Thx guys, i found out what it was. It's the pitman arm. I'll just buy the puller and I'll replace it. If anyone has any tips on this, I'll be very apreciatative.
