Lowering, track width, camber and steering linkage
In those descriptions given for lowering jobs, i think the descriptions seems too simple. I mean if do do some lowering, the camber, track width and steering linkages got to be modified somehow right. What modifications do u guys do to solve these alignment problems?
Btw, should i lower my Tamiya Testarossa? I m planning to put Mythos 17 inch wheels and tires on it. Sorry no pics, i don't have digital camera.

It's case by case.
For the double wishbone like the rear of a Testarossa, you just bend the upper and lower arms, and file the contact point of the shock. For the front, if the steering linkage doesn't interfare with the chassis, leave it as is. If it does, such as MR2(SW20), file a little bit of chassis, or use smaller diameter brass rod or something. Track with is almost neglegible. For example, if you want to lower the rear suspension of a Testarossa by 1 mm, which has lower arm length of 12 mm, arcsin is 4.78 degrees. The offset is 12 minus 12 times cosin of 4.78 deg, so you get 12 - 11.958 = 0.042 mm. The track of one side moves inward by 0.042 mm. That's almost zero. |
