need advice before buying an LS motor

I have a 89 honda civic hatch... & I found a great price on a LS motor. I'm going to buy it by the end of this week if everything is good on it.

Does anyone have any advice on what to look/check for, like a check list of things I need to look for when I'm checking out an engine. I'm not trying to get ripped off by this guy, so if anyone has any little advice it would mean a lot.

THANKS

yeah just make sure everything is there, remeber you also need the engine tranny axles ecu. make sure it has the tb, fuel rail, injectors. you could pull out the dipstick and check the oil, if it was changed recently and the motor is black, then something is wrong with the engine. you could take off the valve cover and look at the cam for burn marks, which would indicate the engine was ran without oil before. you could take off the oil pan and look for metal flakes in teh oil pan. alot of stuff you can do, but the question is do you wanna take the time and do them.

check to make sure the tb sensor is not broken

You don't need to get a new hood. It will fit fine with your stock hood. Your going to need to buy a mount kit for it. You'll need to modify your shift linkage for it to fit the tranny right (chop about 2 inches out), you'll to have your exhaust modified to accept the B-series header, the holes don't line up at the cat. Not really too much if the price is right, i would really check with the guy on the mileage, how the clutch was, your probally going to want to change the timing belt, water pump, maybe oil pan gasket while it's out and other little things like that, they can add up quick too. Oh you'll also need the axels.

If you cut the shift linkage and reweld it, make sure you do it right. Cause if you don't you'll mess up the synchros.

Either HASport makes a linkage to be used with their mount kit, or hcp engineering makes an adjustable one. I believe they both sell for about the same price.

You will also need a drivers side mount bracket from a 90-93 integra so you can use the hasport, hcp or place racing mount kit.

Are you talkin about the "t-bone" bracket? I thought it was in the rear? Anyways what year is the ls motor from?

No the drivers side mount bracket that is mounted to the block is different than the early b series motors. The bolts sit side by side on the new b series brackets while the older ones sit on a diagonal. Therefore to use the 4th gen mount kits on a newer bseries motor you need the early drivers side mount bracket.
