Alclad 2 vs Mr. Metal Color vs Testors Metallizers...
So?
anyone tried all 3? I currently have some Mr. Metal color but no chance to use it yet, and i've always been curious about the alclad stuff but it's so expensive, but comes in such a big bottle... and testors metallizers, i've never seen before.. so.. anyone? pros? cons?

Having used Alclad 2 chrome I highly recommend it. It's almost like a mirror.

Alclad II is very good, dries very hard, able to be masked in 10 minutes (according to their website)
Testors is also good, but people have had problems with it not adhering well. Testors sells a Metalizer"Sealer" but that affects the look of the natural metal finish when sprayed on. A company called SnJ also makes metalizer products, you should check them out as well. |

I've used Alcald II and Testors Metalizers, but not Mr Metal Color.
Of the two I have tried the Alcalad is the best. I didn't believe their chrome was going to be as good as all the hype. However it is as good as they say - a mirror finish - provided your undercoat of gloss black is flawless. Only problem I've found with Alcalad is that some of the different shades have very little difference between them. Alumimium, durallium, magnesium all look very similar when I spray them. Compared to on their website where there is a much larger variation between shade. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong though. Anyway, I'll have to get some of their darker shades, like steel and see how they work. Phil |
