Post Sub Positions?

I have a 12" Type-R in my trunk in a custom enclosure and i am looking into adding a hidden 10" Type-R under the enclosure. The problem is that i have no room except for betwen the box and the backseat. The Sup would be facing the back so the magnet would be sitting right next to the backseat. The front of the sub would also be very very close to the front of my 12" sub box.

Would that work or even sound good? I looked around on the internet and couldnt find an answer so i was hoping one of you gus had tried something like this...

Ok it would be similar to this under the enclosure... I am saying if the ten was facing the same was as the twelve only between the back of the box and the back of the backseat.

Heres another shot from the front...

So the sub would be sitting right under about where the port is in the back of the hatch for the twelve...

The ideal sub box for this sub is 13-1/2"H x 14-1/2"W x 14"D and that is about how much room i would have for the 10" im just not sure if it being so close to both the box and seat if that will make it sound bad...

Hopefully this is helping give you guys a 3D perspective on what i was trying to explain.

Thanks

Re: Sub Positions?

Why do you want a 10" also when you already have a 12" type R? When I had my 12" type R in there it slammed like craaaaazy.

Re: Sub Positions?

Bro I am so lost!!! You mean you already have the setup on the last pic right? And then you want to drop another enclosure with a smaller sub? Well if the enclosure is a bit smaller then I would have it on the ground facing up? They sound would be facing up, really good sound too.

Re: Sub Positions?

I have no idea what your trying to do. I cant decide if you are keeping the 12 and getting a 10 also or what. Im going to say just keep it the way it is. Do you want more bass or something?

Re: Sub Positions?

I see exactly what he is saying... I will try to help explain this a little clearer for everybody else...

He has this now...

And with the space leftover underneath of it, he wants to run a 10" also off to the passenger side. Offset because of the magnet of the 12 hanging down in the middle.

He would have the 10" facing towards the back of the car like this...

But underneath of the current cover he has from the first picture in my post...

Is that what you meant Ricky?

Re: Sub Positions?

Blackcrow64 nails it... The whole concept is to add some more bass. From what i read on the internet, i shouldnt have a problem, it should sound right, but that doesnt mean it will... It does slam pretty good, but i think because i have the magnet facing straight down, i dont get very good lows which is really annoying when the highs hit hard.

Re: Sub Positions?

Wait, do you even have a box under the 12 you have now or is it just mounted to a flat plate??

Re: Sub Positions?

Why would you want to do this? I would just cut one more hole in the top and throw another 12 on that bitch.

Re: Sub Positions?

Yeah like silvr said....is there an actual box under the board for the 12 or is it just a board. If its just a board with no box then no wonder it sounds like poop. You have to have it in some type of enclosure.

And I would not put another sub in there with it...that would be gay. Be poop. You just need to make the right type of enclosure for the sub you got and it should sound good. I bet that little box in the first pic sounds better than that board thingy.

Re: Sub Positions?

There is a box built under the 12 to the same specs as recommended for 12's... From what i researched it would make highs sound a lot better with a 10 also, and it would give it more boom... there is no room left under the enclosure to add another box, unless i put the 10 to the side of the 12 and i didnt think that would sound very good... The port is facing up in my enclosure, its really hard to see in that pic... would it be better to have it facing to the back seat under the enclosure?

Any ideas?

I wouldnt mind adding another twelve, i love the way my one sounds... Im just trying to figure out what would be the best option...

Re: Sub Positions?

What you got should be plenty of system to sound good in that car. I mean, you can make a tweeter beat in a hatchback like that. I think you just need to have the amp tuned by a professional. Also what head unit do you have?
