GT Sound System

I have what looks to be a radio/cd player sound system in my '99 GT. It has adjustments for the different frequency ranges and uses 6 speakers (including 2 tweeters). It also appears that the previous owner might have had an additional amplifier hooked into the system.

My question is this: I frequently have static from the speakers. I can't tell if their blown, but the problem isn't consistently there. I live in an urban area, and radio reception is pretty good.

Has anyone had a similar problem? I replaced the rear windshield antenna with a standard mast antenna, but still have the same results.

Re: GT Sound System

IT's possible the speakers are blown. They will either go in and out or get static. If you send me a private message with the last 8-digits of your VIN, I can tell you if your car has the factory amplified sound system or not.
