how to change thermostat, 98 intrepid???

I am trying to change the thermostat in my 98 intrepid 2.7. The housing unit on top of the motor where I am told the thermostat is in, seems to have a metal pipe that runs down and around the bottom of the housing unit and in between the middle of the motor. Anyone know how to change a thermostat in this vehicle? And how to get that housing unit up and out of the motor? I am leaking antifreeze from this housing unit, so it must be replaced.

that is not the thermostat housing. But you can pull the whole thing off by unhooking the pipe under the throttle body. Then you will be able to pull it out of the block provideing you remove the screws to the plastic housing on the top of the engine.

thermostat is on the driver side near the front bottom of engine, you need to get it from underneath
