98 Taurus - transmission problem?
When I come to a stop the car goes into netral even though it's still in drive. I'll drop it into L2 start to drive and put it back into drive and everything is fine until I have to stop again. In which case I repeat the process. Now I didn't have this problem until I had to have the steering colum changed out.
What is going on and about how much am I looking at to get it fixed? |

Re: 98 Taurus - transmission problem?
I'm going to assume that your Taurus has the column shift. I'd suggest you take it back to where you had the column changed out, maybe they didn't get the shift linkage adjusted appropriately. When you shift to "2" does the transmission stay in 2nd gear, or does it seem to function normally? Do neutral, reverse and park seem to line up fine according to the gear indicator?

Re: 98 Taurus - transmission problem?
This has nothing to do with the shifter.
This is typical AX4S actuator piston warpage->failure. It basically requires rebuilding the transmission.
