Headlights
Does anyone know how to turn off my headlights with motor running and not the e-brake pushed. I blind everyone at the boat landing while un-loading my boat in the mornings. Oh its a 98 Jimmy, loaded,95,000 miles, vortec V6.
Any info appreciated. |

Re: Headlights
Just apply the emg. brake a click or two just enough to turn them off.
Or rig up a toggle switch on the emg brake switch. But remember the DLR is a safety deal and some places require them to be working on a public road or highway.

Re: Headlights
On 1998 you can disable the DRL's by removing the diode in the underhood fuse panel. The diode looks like a fuse, but has a diode icon on it. Removing the diode does not affect anything else, just disables the DRL's.

Re: Headlights
I don't know if the 98 is the same as my 2000 but if I push the dome override button four times in a row (turn dome off, turn on, turn off, turn on) a ding sounds and the lights go out. Repeat the procedure to turn them back on.

Re: Headlights
98 is not equipped with that feature. The park brake must be applied to the first "click" to override the DRL's, or remove the diode.
