2000 Avalon CEL Light

The CEL is coming on while driving my 2000 Avalon (125k miles). The code came on about a week ago. Since the car has had no performance issues, I unhooked the battery to reset the code. Five days late, the code came back on. There still has been no performance issues with the car.

From what I have read, I am most likely looking at having to clean the Mass Airflow Sensor. The gas cap is tight, so that is not a consideration. I have yet to take the car in for diagnostics. I feel it is something simple due to the lack of performance issues.

Other than cleaning the MAS, is there anything else I can try?

Thanks in Advance

**Update**

Cleaned the Mass Airflow Sensor. I'll know if that resolved the issue over the next few days. I'll keep my fingers crossed the issues is resolved. I really didn't want Santa to bring me a repair bill for Christmas :-(

Re: 2000 Avalon CEL Light

Take it to AutoZone or one of those parts shops--most will read the code(s) for you for free. Let us know what the code is, otherwise you're just wasting your time. Oh...and just because you done sense a problem with performance, it doesn't mean you don't have a real or serious problem. It could be something very simple, but you never know.
