1999 Montana - Turn Signal Fuse Keeps Blowing
Rear lights were faulty (for awhile, but really became a problem today), so I replaced both tail light assemblies. On one connector (which was burned), I repinned and crimped black wire through the connector. Everything seemed to work for about 5 minutes, when turn signal fuse blew. All other lights still work. We replaced the fuse twice today, and it has now blown again. It seems to be blowing in conjunction with the headlights coming on. Any clues as to what could be the problem? I called several auto wrecking places to find new connector wire, but was unsuccessful.
I've gotten a lot of help from this forum in the past, and appreciate all of you "experts," intentional or unintentional, as the case may be. |

Re: 1999 Montana - Turn Signal Fuse Keeps Blowing
I suppose the original lights clusters were plagued with corrosion....common problem... My brother's 2002 had them replaced too in 2004 or 5 ..they use lot of salt on the roads here...
I would disconnect the rear clusters, try the lights....and I suspect then no fuse will blow...and then reconnect one side at a time, and see when the probem resurfaces. Maybe you have already done just that.... this fuse problem occured after the replacement...so it must have something to do with the connectors... Can we understand the fuse blows only when usint the turn lights ? And on one side ?

Re: 1999 Montana - Turn Signal Fuse Keeps Blowing
Thanks for your response. We narrowed it down to the left signal causing the fuse to blow. After purchasing a new connector (unnecessary!), and then taking everything apart again, it turns out that one of the prongs on the new taillight assembly was broken.
Frustrating, but at least we figured it out. It will be nice to FINALLY have all working lights again. |

Re: 1999 Montana - Turn Signal Fuse Keeps Blowing
the running lights are connected to the turn signal lights via the board and connectors good trouble shooting .
