Re: anyone kno how to replace a fuel pump
May check the Main Relay first. Most of the time that's what it is. It's only about 40 dollars compared to the 160ish for the fuel pump. Listen for a click under the dash when you turn the key on, behind the change holder.

Re: anyone kno how to replace a fuel pump
you have to drop the tank to replace the pump.

Re: anyone kno how to replace a fuel pump
oi, check under the rear seat, some models were equipped w/ an access panel, if there isn't one, you can always "make" one.. it's a hell of a sight easier than dropping the tank and breaking one of the studs that are moulded to the body.

Re: anyone kno how to replace a fuel pump
I was gonna check the sock on my fuel pump last week and thought it was like the later model cars that let you get to it through the access panel....not true. Access panel lets you get to the sending unit, not the pump. Needless to say, I haven't checked the sock on my fuel pump(getting some random sputtering, managed to get some water in the fuel somewhere) and don't plan to just yet. Too damn cold to be out dropping a gas tank to check a little filter.

Re: anyone kno how to replace a fuel pump
there is an access to the fuel gauge sending unit, but not the pump.

Re: anyone kno how to replace a fuel pump
Yep. I thought it was to the fuel pump also, then I took it out and realized it was only the sending unit.

Re: anyone kno how to replace a fuel pump
well that's ghey... speaking of sending units tho, will the factory gauge work w/ a GM-style (0-90 ohm) sending unit?
and OP, you now have two options.. you can either widen out that hole, and properly prep the opening before re-covering it, or you can drop the tank, and probably have to get someone to weld a new stud up to the body. |
