Change Oil Light

Hi All,

I am trying to get rid of the Change Oil light in my Intrigue. I did the turn the ignition to on and press the pedal 3 times within 5 seconds, wait for the light to flash and then turn ignition off and star the car trick. No workey workey.

One thing I may have done, and littlehoov, maybe you can help me here. I installed a remote car starter into the car. While hooking up the brake light hookup, I accidently pushed the brake light switch in towards the pedal a bit. Probably about a quarter inch. I tried pulling it back out, but I think it is barbed and cannot come out without pulling the entire switch assy out and pulling out the barbed connection to retract it again.

I didn't do anything about it before now and a month ago because the brake lights work absolutely fine, and the lights don't come on until I press the pedal till the brakes almost engage, so there is no warning issue to drivers in the rear.

I did see on the switch though a couple of other switches on it and perhaps by pushing in the switch by accident, the other switches are not acting properly.

Any insight anyone?

Thanks, Hoppy...

I don't think your brake pedal switch or the remote starter install has much to do with the change oil light issue.

When you press the gas pedal to reset it make sure you do it 3 times within 5 seconds as you stated, but don't just jab the pedal to the floor quickly. Instead, make 3 complete medium-paced sweeps from idle to wide open and back.

Re: Change Oil Light

I feel like an idiot now. I was pressing the brake pedal down rather than the accelerator pedal.

I have cleared it once again!

Thanks.

Am I allowed to point and laugh at both of you now?

Re: Change Oil Light

Harmon, Perhaps your computer thinks that the engine oil is still ok!

Yeah, I am sure if my neighbor across the road was looking outside he would have asked what the hell I was up to! Fortunately it was during the day!
