Unhappy Heater Core 2.3--1993 GA.

Searched archives, and read all posts on forum on this subject. i cannot reach or get to the heater hose clamps from above. Up on jackstands now, seems to be some big flat bar, bolted accross frame, in the way. Cant get even a good sight line on the hoses where they go into firewall. If i removed this bar, seems like an arm still wouldnt fit up in there? What is the trick here, what am i missing, or not removing? all i wanna do is remove the heater hoses, then remove the core. i tried autozone link, but goobledeegook to me? Could anyone who has done this before, please give me some pointers. Im kinda frustrated right now. Thanks people. How you get up in there?

I usualy can reach them from above laying on top'o the engine.

If you have it up off the floor 18-24inches that might be enough to reach around the transaxle mount, though, you can remove the rear trans strut mount for better access.

Re: Heater Core 2.3--1993 GA.

I took the clamps off mine from above, then removed the hoses from underneath the car. The only reason I did it that way was I couldn't get enough leverage on the hose from above. Made one huge mess of the driveway as well, the heater core, even though it's leaking, holds almost 1/2 gallon of cooant.

Nothing like a antifreeze bath when doing this from under the car.

Thats why I removed them from above. I was still covered in gunk that night, but at least the mosquitos didn't like the smell of me.

Re: Heater Core 2.3--1993 GA.

I remember those days, I'm spoiled now, having a hoist in every bay

You may need a set of long-handled needle nose pliers (straight, 22.5, 45, and 90 degrees) to get past everything (assuming factory spring-clamps).
