Re: wisdom teeth

Give it a day and you'll be back to normal food. You just have to eat with your front teeth. Percocets are a good time.

Re: wisdom teeth

I remeber picking my brother up after he got his wisdom teeth. The jackass jammed out to techno in my car for 1/2 hour, ripped out my ashtray in the 3000GT looking for a CD (WTF?), and asked me how I got the sandwich I was eating 15 minutes after he and went through the Burger King drive through. Sounds like fun for the other person though.

Re: wisdom teeth

My orthodontist recently told me I have a wisdom tooth coming in croked so it might need to be taken out. I didn't like the sound of it, but now I'm hoping to go under the knife

Re: wisdom teeth

Man when I had mine out I cant even remember half the stuff I did just after I woke up. Aparently I got out of the surgens chair, got into the docters chair started spinning around in circles going "WEEEEEEEEEEEE" in the amount of time it took for the docter to step accross the hall to get my mom. Mind you this was in High School. The docter also gave me a scratch ticket, but I didn't relize this until 3 months later when I asked my mom what this scratch ticket had been sitting around for so long for. She told me it was mine....

Re: wisdom teeth

That's good to hear. I'm getting mine pulled in the begining of next year. I was going to not have them pulled, but I chiped one. It started to rot because I can't get the toothbrush back there without jabbing the back of my gums. I figure I may as well have them all pulled. I'm kindda looking forward to it now. What's better than great, legal drugs, that your insurance pays for!?

yeah wait til you have it done, the thread starter's prolly just lit off the percocets and making it sound like it ain't that bad. i had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out and it sucked. the first day's not bad cuz you're so drugged up but the next few weeks suck. i lived off soup, spaghetti-o's and PB&J forever and the first time i tried to eat potato chips i stabbed myself in the hole where my tooth once was and felt like crying.

Re: wisdom teeth

I had all 4 of mine pulled 25 years ago. It was nothing,(either i had a great surgeon or a high tolerance to the procedure) All I remember was sitting in the chair , falling asleep and waking up in what seemed a half hour later,( never did find out how long I was out.) All of my wisdom teeth were growing practically sideways. I remember going home and going to bed for awhile, then waking up 2 or 3 hours later feeling fine. In fact the surgeon called later that afternoon and was shocked when I answered the phone,( he told me none of his other patients answered the phone when he checked up on them.) I ate a regular dinner that night and went back to a normal routine the next day. I don't even remember what if anything I was given for pain. Back in '82 it cost $125 per tooth for the wisdom teeth extraction, I'd hate to see how much it costs today to do the job.

...and a product of evolution.
When cavemen roamed the Earth, they needed their wisdom teeth to eat. As man has evolved over the centuries we have lost the need for them, and our heads have gotten smaller in the process, thus making less space for these teeth. As a result for many people this facilitates the need for removal before other problems can occur.

Yup. For most humans nowadays, our jaws have shortened and no longer have room for the wisdom teeth, so having them removed has become a rite of passage for most - hence the adulthood reference.

No insult intended....

So are we to say that if you still have your wisdom teeth and have no problems you have either
1) not entered " adulthood'' or
2) not evolved ??
