Just a heads up

I repaired a coolant leak over the weekend that was somewhat of a bear. I have a 99 Ram1500 with the 5.9L. I had a mysterious coolant leak but could not see where it was coming from. Did a pressure test and coolant puddled on top of the block. The worse case scenario quickly came to mind. I took the alternator and A/C unit off, as well as the bracket that held both on. Also removed the fan, which was a pain. I did another pressure test and could see coolant squirting out of the bypass hose on top of the water pump. The hose is buried under that bracket! GEEZ!!! This is a horrible place for a bypass hose, IMO. So, if you have to replace that hose, be ready for a long, tedious repair!
